Russian-olive Elaeagnus angustifolia

tree of the family Eleagnaceae, close to the family Oleaceae
(Ash, Lilac, Osmanthe , Olive tree, Privet)

Origin: periphery of the Mediterranean.
Height: often shrub, sometimes tree reaching 10 m tall.
Features: leaves are oblong (Length / breadth> 4). The underside of leaves is silvery. The Russian-olive carries yellow, odorous tiny flowers, in June. Its roots contain microorganisms which fix the nitrogen.
Use: in Asia, sorbets with his fruits are fabricated.
